About
Marco Tabacchi is a self-taught charcoal artist based in Berlin. Working primarily in photorealism, his drawings seek to blur the boundary between the familiar and the unsettling. Through meticulous detail and dramatic contrasts of light and shadow, he creates suggestive scenes that invite contemplation while subtly challenging the viewer's perception. Beneath their realism, his works often conceal elements of ambiguity, tension, and symbolism—designed not merely to be observed, but to linger in the mind long after the first glance.
Charcoal remains his medium of choice for its ability to strip an image down to its essence. By working exclusively in black and white, Marco explores the emotional power of contrast, allowing light to emerge from darkness and ordinary subjects to acquire an unexpected psychological depth.
